w e d d i n g p r e p 1

It's been years since I last posted (literally)...
Have been taking photos of lots of stuff in the run-up to our Big Day, and was thinking of putting them somewhere, but somehow feel Facebook a tad too public, so thought of my much-neglected blog hee...

Cheongsam for Tea Ceremony

That's my Cheongsam that we got for the traditional Chinese Tea Ceremony. It's actually a darker red than appears in the photo. 'Blood red' according to their description lol...

My evening gown's still in the making, will post its interim photos when the Fiancé finally shares the photos taken that day with me. My wedding gown is more of less done, just going to have the first fitting in 2 weeks' time, and maybe add some more lace and some blush to the skirt.. :)

Ingredients for the Flower Crown

Started making my flower crown this weekend.. Bought the stuff mostly from Golden Dragon in Chinatown (craft shop that is waaay more economical than Spotlight!), thanks to my mum who used to frequent that shop, I thought of it when I happened to be in the vicinity after work on Fri.. Plus 1 stalk (the long one on the left) from Daiso.. So total damage was only S$14.60!

In the end, didn't even use the larger blue flowers (at the bottom of the photo, S$5) as afraid that they may look a bit out of place as the rest of the flowers are so much smaller.. So my flower crown actually costs only S$9.60! Makes me happy when I think of those being sold at S$50-$100+ that I found online (Le Fairymeadow, Etsy..), le me being cheapskate haha..

Base vines structure

But it's definitely a lot of work (or maybe I'm not that DIY/craft-inclined).. Started off with twisting the wires into a wavy structure that I thought looks nice as I wanted a more natural 'vine' look (which even my custom-made wedding ring has!) Took quite a bit adjustments to join the ends in a continuous 'wave' and get the 'waves' to be quite evenly spread out..

Interim flower crown

That's the initial version of my flower crown.. But my mum was saying that the flowers I use are small and colours not very bright, so may not be very obvious when I wear for the photoshoot. I like the pastel purples and blues so no way I'm going to add bright yellows are reds (although they came as a pack when I bought the DIY stuff), so I decided to add more flowers!

Final flower crown

Ta-dah! That's my final version (for today at least lol)!
When I tried on, found what my mum said to be kinda true, when it's on hair, the vines become less obvious, so the flowers look very sparse, but now it looks a lot fuller when I wear it! I'm not going to post a photo of me wearing though, due to the mess my hair is in hee...

Flower crown bearer

So that's my official flower crown bearer! Mr Funny Bones bear now has a new duty.. :)
